Rick (Richard L.) Leighton - retired
Rick is now retired after completing 44 years extensive professional legal experience that included local and multi-state representation for both large and small companies. He carried an individual "AV" rating by Martindale-Hubbell, and devoted a significant part of his practice to handling transactional work in banking, corporate, commercial, contract and employment law, including extensive work negotiating and drafting executive and intellectual property protection agreements, as well as software development, marketing, licensing and reseller agreements. Rick regularly handled the negotiations and preparation of documents for the purchase and sale of businesses, stock redemptions and small business family successions. Rick's practice included serving as a litigator with significant court and jury trial experience, and regularly practiced before the Minnesota state courts as well as before the civil and bankruptcy courts of the United States District of Minnesota. He was certified in 2002 as a Civil Trial Specialist by the Civil Litigation Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association.
Rick demonstrated an exceptional ability to provide personal service to his clients in an effective and cost-effective manner. His past experience with large and small law firms, together with a pragmatic personal style, allowed Rick to provide prompt service and a comprehensive grasp of complex situations.
